While knowledge asset capture takes its start internally, in the knowledge created at the university, the positioning analysis aims to take a step back and look at the characteristics of the environment in which this knowledge could be applied. These ‘internal’ and ‘external’ perspectives are often mutually reinforcing and, together, form the base for understating the opportunities for successful utilization of knowledge assets in the IAM framework.

Positioning analysis i.e. making sense of external information to create the background for decision making in utilization projects and beyond is the focus of this training session.  During the day, the participants will be given both a theoretical and practical review of some of the tools, information sources and analysis methods which can be used in a positioning analysis. Case examples will be mixed with sessions of brainstorming and knowledge exchange to outline risks and methods of data interpretation and create opportunities for practical learning and inspiration for all involved.
